Children’s Ministries
While many congregations do most, if not all, of their children’s ministries on Wednesday nights, we believe that children and their families are best served when family worship remains a priority.  Worship in an intergenerational environment reminds us that God calls all people, young and old, to worship and serve him together as a congregation. Worshipping together as a family strengthens family bonds and gives the family a natural doorway to discuss and develop their spiritual walk with Christ.

To aid families in worshipping together we have a nursery, with video feed of the service, for those times when children need a place to refocus their energy. Sunday morning worship at Immanuel usually includes a children’s message and times for the children to participate in worship, including Sunday School Choirs, Puppet Ministry and the annual Christmas Program. Children are encouraged to assist their parents with ushering and taking an active role in the worship service.

Sunday School
Since our primary focus continues to be Sunday morning worship we strive to provide an excellent Sunday School program following the worship service.

Sunday School is held at 10:15 a.m. during the school year (September through May). Bible lessons, singing, crafts and mission focus are all part of our Sunday morning experience. Classes are provided for students age three through High School.

Vacation Bible School
VBS is held each year during the summer. Registration forms and information will be available on this site.

Kids Club
Kids Club is a Wednesday afternoon ministry for children grades 3-6. It is held from 3:30-5:00 most Wednesdays. Activities include music, Bibe lessons, games, crafts, and all around fun. A snack and drink is privided. See the church calendar for dates.

Bible Camp
Children from Immanuel are encouraged to attend summer Bible camp at
Riverside Bible Camp, Story City, Iowa, or Ingham-Okoboji Lutheran Bible Camp, Lake Okoboji, Iowa. Weekend and week-long camps are held for both children and families, including special camps for single adults, single parents and couples.

First Communion
Students at Immanuel are invited to participate in first communion instruction starting in fifth grade. Parents participate in these classes and make the final decision as to whether they feel their youth is ready to begin receiving Holy Communion. First Communion service is held the third Sunday in October.

Classes to confirm a student’s baptismal vows are provided for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students throughout the school year.  Confirmation requirements include participation in class, completion of worship reports and worship attendance, and active involvement in service activities throughout the year. Confirmation is held on Reformation Sunday in October.

Middle School and High School Ministries
Ministry opportunities, including Bible study, service and mission opportunities, are provided for children grade five and up.  Please see the youth page for more information.

Christian Library
Our church library is available any time the church is open and is conveniently located in the narthex. New books are added regularly, as well as Christian music and DVDs. We have a wonderful collection of kid’s DVDs and VHS tapes.
